18V Battery Powered Angle Grinder?

Ive noticed Aldi have a specials coming up soon for a kit of 4 "power tools" (actually its just 3 and a torch).
Im in need of an angle grinder but just wondering if this would be up to the job, i like the idea of it being cordless, would help no end when needing to do quick jobs on the car. The kit comprises 2 batteries, so it will be possible to swap batteries over quickly without waiting for it to recharge each time.
Other tools in the kit include torch, drill and jigsaw, all of which i have but none cordless (bar the torch).

Anyone have any experience with a cordless angle grinder? Is an 18v battery capable of being powerfull enough for metal work?

Ive got one of these they will never have as much power as a mains powered grinder, but its a handy tool on site, I even took a wheel clamp off with it, always keep it in the car now.

It was a pikey scam, a mate and his wife got clamped on a public road, 2 tossers in yellow jackets demand money for release, mate says ok but you'll have to take me to a cashpoint at the nearby supermarket, while hes gone his wife calls to say whats happened so a couple of us drive up and remove clamp, mate "disappears" in supermarket and so does car and clamp, We couldn't have done it without mobile phones and the cordless grinder, very satisfying result, the clamp went in the scrap, one less in circulation.

I have one as well. A great tool but not a replacement for a mains grinder.

Thats probably a wise decision, Ive just had a look at the Aldi website, 4 power tools and 2 batteries for £40. cant be up to much can it?. some of those cheap cordless tools can take 4 hours to charge, virtually unusable.

Yeah, i know. Just thought it might be usefull as a cordless drill would also be handy. Will get a decent mains one instead, no point buying tools twice

Yep, received it today and all i can say is....I love the quality of Makita tools!
I inherited some old Makita drills from my grandfather who passed away when i was 1 years old, 26-27 years on they still work amazingly well, especially as ive never needed to replace the brushes!

I recently bought a 9" Makita grinder of this fella. Came in at 35 quid.
Seems a good seller.
Makita will last you forever. Withstand knocks and a rough fabrication shop well.
