Thanks but putting questions up here won't help. You have to know what chapter the regulation is likely to be in, and then which section to home in on it quickly.
The book is broken down into distinct sections which cover different topics. Most of the time you will probably be dancing around 4x and 5x.
Your trainer should be able to show you how to use the book, but they won't be able to give you answers because that is not the point of training.
The idea is you have to learn how to use the book, as the content will change with each edition.
I recommend you take a look at SparkyNinjas 18th edition series of training videos on gaztube. They are dry but good. Based around the older edition, but the principle is the same.
If you have a question, put it up here and somebody should be able to go through the thought process of where you would look for the answer.
Friendly bunch for the most part here. Mind I'm only just back after a 6 month ban:

Image of On-Off's tool kit.I suspect you’re on a wind-up.
Another recommendation for the sparkyninja lot, you’ll be struggling to find better training. They do various facebook groups too for different training areas, apprentice group etc.You have to know what chapter the regulation is likely to be in, and then which section to home in on it quickly.

The focus of the course is to teach electricians how to use the 18th edition IEE wiring regulations book.
Once the basics are explained, students are often given dummy computer based exams.
That’s the time to raise concerns if things don’t make sense.
With each question the student has to be able to identify which section of the regulations the question relates to; it’s the whole point of the course.
If the student does their preparation, the exam is not usually a problem.
For the 18th I didn’t bother with the course and just took the exam.
Perhaps you could find out what went wrong in the exam and focus on studying where needed.
Thanks I will.pass it on. Exam is tomorrow.Good luck.![]()
I think that is indeed your, well his, problem - I keep finding it with new young colleagues - absolutely no idea of how to look up anything other than typing it into google - and then believing the first link they follow with no attempt to confirm it anywhere else.well I guess that's where the problem lies. It's not clear to my son . But he can find them all on Google....
A 6 month stretch! I’m really surprised to hear you’ve experienced the wrath of the mods.
That being said though, I suspect you’re on a wind-up.
True sadly. There was a thread started by Dave Stansfield who started SBS Trade Sales, the 2 pole, compact RCBO guy.
He then sold to Ben King, one of his customers I believe.
Sadly, SBS then ceased trading.
I went on the thread and asked about it from memory. Simple as that. I got an automated, impersonal message about it having been moved or something about it being an old thread. One of those unfathomable things that leaves you thinking what, why?
More to the point the particular mod had changed the wording of my post. The diction and grammar were poor and I felt that reflected on me. I went off on one and then some. Despite supportive comments from other members that I'd done nothing wrong. I got an initial ban I think 7 days or some rubbish. I then called the guy out and it became 6 months. It may have involved something about seeing him next Tuesday. By then I was so wound up I couldn't care less. I did try rejoining under various aliases just to call him nasty names again out of spite of course but he was wise to that.
