180mm (7") angle grinders

I use a lot of 180mm flap discs in my 9" grinder. I've looked at the Makita 7" grinder and discovered that it is simply a 9" grinder with a 7" guard fitted. The Makita has been a fine tool but it is a little heavy. Does anyone make a 7" grinder that is not just a rebadged 9"? If not can anyone suggest if the Bosch, Makita, DeWalt or Metabo grnder is better than the others?

look at the wattage of the motors and the speed. that will tell u what the difference is

The Bosch FWS 22-180 H looks like a proper 180mm grinder, it’s certainly lighter than a 230mm machine. Whether it’s any good I’ve no idea but I have a couple of Bosch Pro 115mm grinders and they’re excellent so it may be worth looking at.

Dewalt do one, not the quietest thing. Sounds like the gearbox is on the way out from new but mine is coming up 10yr old I expect and has had plenty of use with no problems
