16 amp supply

.evening guys.
I will at some point be installing a 16 amp supply to my workshop. A friend of mine will be doing the installation. But at the moment I use a 2.5m heavy duty extension lead to power my equipment. I am totally crud with house electrics .soon I will be updating my welders to 16 amp equipment. Can I use these adapters to go from 13amp to the 16amp machine.

yes but its still only 13 amp ok if u don't want to cut the plug off your machine and fit a 13 amp one why pay more unless as u say u have a few machines

OK. I got ya now.understand. even thoe it's a 16amp socket it's still only getting 13amp through the cable. Me having a blonde moment

Its not that your only getting 13a throught the cable its that it still has a 13a fused plug before the 16a plug.

OK .so Ifar I was to run a welder that is designed to take 16amps I would be blowing 13amp fuses regularly when the machine is cranked up.

Yep, you can spur of a ring and add this . That way you can also fit an rcd if it isn't already protected.

Yes, but only if using it at the higher end of the power scale. Sometimes 13a fuses will take a good bit more and last a while, though it's down to luck.
The kind of welder can make a difference.
