155T with 1mm wire

Hello,

I work in a school, here we have a clarke 155t mig welder that gets a heck of a lot of abuse. The school was donated a spool of 1mm wire and the previous technician put it in, and drilled out a bunch of .8 tips to fit it which we have been going through.

I searched the site here and found the settings for the welder, but obviously the welder is meant for only .6 and .8 wire, I also have the manual here, but I wondered if anyone else has put 1mm wire in and what the settings are?

I've been asked to make a display of welding information, and thought I'd put the settings up on the board. (Of course I could go through and fiddle and work it out myself, but I thought I would just ask here in case anyone else had done this already... saving me a morning of fiddling with the settings?)

I also wondered if it was ok for me to copy the welding tutorial that is on here and post that up for the students?

Sent a PM re use of the tutorials. For the wire speed with 1.0mm wire the wire speed in the calculator would need to be reduced. My guess is 1.0mm wire speed would be roughly 0.8mm wire speed divided by 1.6 and then maybe 10% added back on.

You'll soon get a feel for it, though you'll struggle to use it at lower settings as it won't burn easily.

lawnmowerboy, I find the welder a bit of a struggle, takes a while to play with the settings, but then maybe that's just because I'm used to my own one which is an ancient castolin eutectic, and don't use the one at work very often.
