Hello from Harrogate.
Just bought a second hand MIG after a few years using a stick welder occasionally. Got lots of little projects in mind, air rifle targets, pellet catchers etc.And metal butterflies!!
Treating myself to a new neck liner and steel liner for the torch and a rewire of the earth lead and mains lead as suggested on this (most informative ) forum.
My question is when connecting the earth lead( I have some 400 amp cable) to the large coil in the case am I OK to just use a brass tube connector and bolts or does it really need to be soldered to the wire from the coil? The earth clamp is being upgraded too but I've already got a connector on that end.
I'm also going to upgrade the mains lead to something a little heftier as the one thats fitted seems to get quite warm with use.
Is it OK to use 0.6 wire with 0.8 tips? It seems a little 'poppy' is this intermittent contact?
