12V grinder - Lidl

Just noticed that Lidl have a small 12V angle grinder in, along the lines of the Bosch 12V unit. Wondering if there's any scenarios where the compact form may be handy, as they're only a 76mm disc. Been eyeing the Bosch unit for a while, but thought the Lidl one could be a cheap method of discerning whether they're any use, before plumping for a Bosch.

Bet they prove popular with lawless fraternity. Extremely handy for cutting through security chains & hasps.

looks like its a cordless version of a 3" air powered cut off tool. I tend to use an air cut off tool more than an angle grinder as I find them to be more accurate

Any chance this could be used with a small grinding disc just for knocking off burrs and removing a little bit of scale?

Looks a handy little tool and if/when the battery fails you could run it off a car battery being a 12V model.

Getting additional batteries is one issue.

Went into a couple of Aldi’s in Oz and they had stacks of 20v batteries and chargers for the battery tools, not seen that in the UK.

I have a 240v mini grinder and its good for tight spots but pretty poor quality

My 18v Makita grinder can be a bit low in power if using a wire wheel but ok with slitting discs and flap wheels so I imagine a 12v will be ok with thin discs

lets be clear in my eyes if a 4.5" grinder wont fit into place im not going to be heading for another type of grinder thats going to have the same problem a small cut afterwards

the tool i would be aiming for is reciprocating saw as it would have more uses

as most of the cuts would be by a grinder

i have a small air grinder still not used it yet

now a tool i find way better for cleaning is the die grinder

on further note here for a car floors cleaned and whole panel coming out of floor or rusty one i will be heading more for the plasma cutter

for what i have to do to make sure nothings in the way when cutting with disc i might as well use the plasma cutter instead

I was in lidl the other day for a look at these. None to be found, all sold out by 11 in the morning. Look a handy little thing, be even better if you could buy spare batteries for these tools. Bought a welding mask instead.

Was about to buy the bosch one as I have plenty of the 10.8v stuff - I also have the parkside 10.8/12v from a few years ago, batteries look the same - I'll probably buy one of these

I have 2 76mm air grinders, a normal one and a long reach one and love them. Awesome little tools, I've only ever used them with cutting discs. They're great for car related stuff where the 4.5" one won't fit in. I don't think I'd bother with a battery one unless spare batteries were available at a good price.

I have always shrugged off 12v tools for 18v as they didn't have the grunt.

Now half way though redoing the decking I have changed my mind with just a 12v metabo drill driver and holding up really well.

May have to pop to local lidl and have a look for one.

I bought the 10.8v parkside drill for my wife about 4 years ago, it has been brilliant. Every bit as good as the Bosch 10.8. Think it was 20 quid or something.

This would be quite useful. I went into both lidl's near me on thurs and neither stocked it or had a space for it - it was not sold out.

Any other cheap cordless grinders?
