115mm Grinder recomendations

I have got one of those Makita 125mm 720watt it's about 5+ years old never had a problem either. Good workhorse. You can use 115mm discs in it too

Thing is I have noticed the new ones aren't the same. It's got a new switch on etc. So no idea whether they are as good.

the new switch on the maks is a bit awkard first few goes, but feels solid, can be left in the on position so grinder would fire up when plugged in.

Ability to take 115 discs is why I went 125, A-cos its not a problem if yr in numpty mode and buy 115s instead of 125s, plus, my pro welder shop sometimes has promos, and the small discs are 125s.

i have a 110 version of this http://www.screwfix.com/p/makita-ga5030-2-5-angle-grinder-240v/43608 and have hammered it for 18 months in a busy fab shop. body can be rotated (i have the switch on the top) and is nice and slim and 4.5" discs fit nicely as well. I will buy another if this gives up the ghost

For Me its Makita. I don't expect to get years out of one because I will hammer it but they have outlasted the other stuff I have had. In fact most of my hand power tools are Makita now

I have an 800watt Ryobi 115 angle grinder. It's coming up on 5 years old and it gets 4-6 hours of use every week. I use it continuously for up to an hour at a time, mainly with P36 abrasive discs for removing mill scale, weld prepping and post weld clean up. I will use anywhere between 10-12 discs per week in it. It has been dropped from bench height onto a concrete floor many times, and I have re-cabled it twice: Once when the cable melted as it lay over a fresh weld I had just done, and once when I managed cut through the cable with the grinder itself. I've straightened out the guard a few times but it still keeps going strongly.
