10x330mm sanding belts

I have a air belt sander that uses the 10x330mm belts.

Can anyone recommend a belt that works well and doesn't snap after a very short amount of time?

I have tried the cheap silverline ones and if you put them on the right way round they snap almost instantly, but if you put them back to front they last a little longer but generally they are crap.

I've had the same experience with exactly what you say above. Funny thing though, my Clarke belt sander's end wheel was slightly rounded on both edges and this I found was, or certainly may have been the problem. It eventually broke (tbh, down to neglect). I bought a cheapy of ebay, the end wheel was flat across the width, unlike the Clarke. The Silverline belts were still crap so thats final, but all the other belts lasted alot longer on the cheap sander with the flat wheel.

I eventually put this down to less vibration to the belt resulting in a more stable rev under operation, due to more of the belt being in contact with the end wheel.

Don't remember the makes of the other belts, but knowing me they were only cheap ebay ones anyway.

You might be better off spending a bit more money and buying a decent quality belt such as Klingspor, 3M etc. 10mm wide belts dont last long anyway, and are only really for light duties.
Silverline stuff is generally pretty poor quality.

Normally I would avoid Silverline like the plague, but looking online it was quite hard to find any other option.

MSC J&L didn't have anything in stock

I'll pop to Brown Brothers to see if they have anything or can order me something in

Just looked on ebay and there are some more choices on there. There are some Mirka ones, I might give those a go as I use there sanding discs and have been pleased with them

I've used Silverline and agree, it is crap!! The 3M ones are much, much better, both for their abillity to munch through welds and for their longevity- they last a LOT longer than the cheap crappy alternative.

I have a cp air belt sander no problems and its end wheel is also rounded at both ends are you sure you are not catching the belt off sharp metal
