Thanks Brad I've done a bit more reading on it I've just been going with the flow, I've a marine tank to do and a radiator to fab, this is what's caused me to look into it moreYou'll just find the 5356 is stronger than the 1050 so you can end up with a harder zone, for tanks that vibrate/expand this can have a greater propensity for cracking.
All standard alloys have a crack sensitivity depending on level of silicon and mangnesium.
This is due to the formation of excess levels of Mg2Si (Magnesium Silicates).
Hence some welds on certain alloys crack on cooling. Hot shortness.
