Well I might a well put a few pics of what I get up to. Dont grill me to much as this is all new to me this welding and have just picked it up myself without any training
I thought as much, I very nearly had a Ram with the same engine (apparently quite rare in that model) until i realised my frequent 1000 mile trips would be a bit costly, so i bought an equally thirsty Jap car instead. What sort of final output are you looking at, I seem to remember there about 345 in N/A EFI form.
When I was about 22, when mammoths still roamed the earth, a pal of mine was a very keen 100E owner. We spent a lot of time scouring the local knackers yards for all the Ford bits that could be used on his motor.
This is what he ended up with:
- Consul Classic front suspension (largish disc brakes)
- Anglia (105E) rear axle with a Lotus Elan differential (3.7:1) and Classic big drums
- 2000E gearbox (the first of the 'single rail' 4-speed gearboxes - close-ish ratio)
- Lotus Cortina 1558cc short engine with Cosworth A2 camshaft
- GT big valve head, about 9.5:1 CR, with Weber 28/36 carb and Mexico tubular exhaust
- A pair of Rover 2000 front seats and 6J alloys with used Dunlop R7 tyres
- Lowered to within about 3" of the ground
- Electric fuel pump from a Morris Minor !
Went like $h!t off a shovel. The old 100E speedo only went up to about 75 and you could easily do more than that in 3rd.
He loaned it to me one day when my motor was u/s and I had to get bits - I spent most of the day surprising myself and other motorists.
Happy days. I don't suppose the whole thing cost more than £300
Have a search for he 107E - it's the better choice as a start for a street car.
