And more amperage? It’s more the thickness of the material. 0.8 I tend to use up to 5 or 6 mm, above that I go to 1mm cos it lays the weld down a lot quicker.
And more amperage?
Depends what you weld really, most of my work is 3 - 10mm so 1mm is my standard fit. I only change to either 0.8 or 1.2 if I have lots of very thin or thick welding at a particular time.
If it sounds right it probably isAnd more amperage?
Some good info on here, I asked because sometimes I think I should use 1.0mm and wondered if my machine was up to it, its an old Migatronic 180, I would have to change the drive wheel as mine only goes up to 0.8mm.
Norm
Depending on the job to be welded, I generally use an in between size of 0.9mm wire for most metal thicknesses of 2 to 10mm, if however, I am doing a lot of thicker metal such as 12+mm then I switch over to 1.2mm.
