The "alternative" energy fad is big business, but the one thing you can be 100% certain of though, is that if any of these fads seriously challenged fossil fuel based world economy, it would quickly get buried very deep!

It is possible to work out mathematically (well beyond me though) the power required for a vehicle of a certain weight to cover a 1/4 mile in a specific time, and I would think that VW must have had around 400-500bhp available to achieve the time claimed.

However putting down 400-500bhp through skinny tyres which dont seem to even be warm seems unlikely, but if it were possible is something an awful lot of people involved with drag racing all round the world would be very interested in.

Although the whole alternative energy thing is being controlled by the oil cartels anyway.

And me, nothing at all wrong with a petrol car!

The oil companies, as well as the world governments and investors are behind the whole green "carbon" scam, the false "peak oil" nonsense to artificially create a shortage of oil so they can rake in fortunes AT OUR EXPENSE! The "carbon" nonsense is all about governments having an excuse to tax us even more.

Electric cars are 110 year old failed technology- much like windmills that are being built again.

Electric cars still have abysmal range- 60 or 70 miles per overnight re-charge (if you are very careful!). OK for a gimmicky town car but useless for anything more than a 50-60 mile round trip.

Out of interest, where does everyone think the hydrogen is coming from?

I don't like hydrogen for environmental reasons, I like it because you can pull in and fill them up like a normal petrol car in about the same amount of time. Electric cars are pathetic in terms of ther recharge/ range ratio.

You can add me to the petrol appreciation club until it's £5 per litre

I hate electric cars too the whole fun of being a petrol head is the smell of petrol...

I saw the audi diesel pre prototype le man cars on test before and there so boring and quiet its not fun in the slightest to watch unlike the aston martin spitting flames on its downshifts!
