Interesting though, the motor is stated as just 80KW, approx 107 HP and yet it runs a 9.5 sec qtr ! Mate of mine built an MR2 that ran a 9.7 qtr but it had over 900 BHP !!
Must be the torque of the electric motor and the fact it produces it's full torque as soon as it turns.
The narrative implies it's using lead acid motorcycle batteries, if so the range will be appalling ! Regardless of battery type though, range is always going to be the limiting factor with electric vehicles.

Then, after range there is battery life ! Another issue. Then the environmental impact of manufacturing batteries on a mass scale. Then the coup de grace for the whole viability of electric vehicles, the power to recharge the batteries still has to be generated, so the emissions and carbon are just transferred to another location.
I hate electric vehicles. They produce figures like this and run 7 second quarters on bikes etc but fail miserably when put to a real test like the IOM TT or when they put an electric car on track versus a comparable petrol car.
I hope those chargable things die off and hopefully everyone will focus their resources on hydrogen cars (I know they are driven by electric motors but they generate their own power).

alternative energy... what alternative energy?... same stuff we have used for 'kin ages, & dont even get me started on "zero emissions"....
I no one capable of original thought & design these days? nothing new... another waste of (alternative)energy so someone can have their 15 Min's, now if they had made something with a 400 mile range at motorway speed, 4 up with luggage, reasonable comfortable & equipped, fast recharge and sensible price might be impressed.

Hydrogen can be split from water with low energy techniques, and before I'm flamed, I too did not think it was possible before I saw a unit attached to diesel car double halved it's fuel consumption ! It's called hydrogen on demand and according to the suppliers it draws only 0.2 amps to create hydrogen from water. This is then simply piped to the induction tract with no other modifications. Th engine then burns a mixture of hydrogen and diesel or petrol. Apparently it will then confuse MOT testers because the emissions are so low. Skeptical ? So was I but they offer money back if it doesn't work.

Yes you're right, but you don't get much hydrogen using low energy techniques.
If you have a 100% efficient system you can produce 1kwh of electricity from the H2 produced by expending 1 kwh of electricty.
Sadly there's lots of people offering snake oil solutions to this sort of thing. Remember permanent magnets around the fuel line, lead pellets to allow unleaded in older cars, the resistors on eBay and electric superchargers.
It seems their MO is to offer comfort like refunds, but I think enough people either never really measure the gains or can be bothered to go back for the refund then there's £'s for the scammers to make.
It's £'s that count, not environmental sentiments at the moment, truth is even at these prices it's still cheaper in many cases to just pump the black stuff from the ground, than many of the renewable methods. Only through taxation (either heavier taxes on fossil fuels or massive tax breaks for renewable) does the renewable argument gain enough financial advantage to motivate people to spend real money on it.

True, but if the low energy technique halves fuel consumption it's a worthwhile benefit. It's quite annoying that Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe and is the perfect fuel but is so difficult to access.

IIRC from my school days, it takes just one volt of the then new-fangled electricity to liberate hydrogen from water.
If they used windfarms to electrolyse water they could capture a lot more energy and I also heard on BBC Radio 4 (so it must be true) that it is much more efficient to transmit energy as gas in pipes rather than as electric current in wires (especially AC)
