Hi
I recently tried to use 0.6 mm wire for car stuff and for the life of me could not get it working.
First, manual for this old 3ph inverter does not mention 0.6 mm wire at all, except that rolls are available. But in manual MIG mode it has wire speeds from 2.5 m/min and voltage 10-40V so suitable.
I now have the rolls, 3m blue 0.6-0.9 liner and 0.6 tips, so it is like new, but all I got was some sparks, berries, trashed tips and so on. With 0.8 mm OK 12.50 it welds like it should. After fussing and swearing in a dark freezing garage I noticed two things. The wire on the Inefil 5kg spool is binding, meaning that sometimes wire loop is stuck between others and will not unroll even if I cut the wire and let the end go. Disappointing as I always thought INE to be one of the good manufacturers. When pressuring the rolls (4-roll feeder) up hard the wire will come off the reel anyway but then it seems to bind occasionally in the liner. It is also very springy like the liner is too large for it or something. Thinking about it the 0.6-0.9 liner surely IS too large for 0.6 wire? The thinner the wire the more specific liner inner diameter should be to support it?
So that's it, watch out for bad spools of wire as even good manufacturers may have bad batches.
And if possible use 0.8 mm wire and spend your time wisely for other things
