I have only ridden mine once when I collected it. About 200 miles, even for a bike it's age and neglected as it was, I was ' hooked' The inline triple is so smooth and responsive, I think I got 125 on the M1 for a couple of miles and it cruised very steadily at 85- to 90. Comfortable too. I...
Hi all, I'm currently restoring an early 90s BMW bike. I am missing a few of the wire retaining clips that secure the injector plugs on to the injector
I can't find these clips anywhere on line, and don't know the correct term to describe them. These Bosch type plugs are common and used on air...
Hello everyone.
Can I ask a question?
Recently I've been doing my F650 Bike calipers. Before I put in the new pistons, gators, stainless bleed screws and banjo bolts, I thought Id blast them, epoxy prime them, put a solvent based 2k base on, then , finish with a 2 K clear, with Anthracite Pearl...
I tried painting a bike frame with the smooth version from a tin. It may be different to the Hammered effect from a can, but a small fuel leak from a Dodgy petcock soften all the paint on the seat rails by the time I saw it. You can't touch it up , and it took days to scrape it off with a blow...
I had thought about that. I hear it's not very UV stable though,?
I also thought about buying half a liter of Matt Black and mixing that with the Satin to see if it reduced the gloss a little.
Thanks
So, should I buy a tin of matting agent? Mix it 4 paint to 1 Matt? I've seen a few different products on eBay, don't know if they are compatible , one product states it's good for cellulose, Acrylic, 2k urethane and gel coats. I guess it must be something like Talcum carried in a solvent.
It was mixed. It's a long way to travel to take a tin of paint back. I've never used matting agent, Is it general purpose? Or would it be specific to a brand of paint? This is just single stage, solvent based, urethane 2k.
Hello. I bought a liter of solvent based 2k Satin Black paint. I'm using fast hardner and fast thinners, through a 0.8 HVLP touch up gun.
I'm finding the paint is too Glossy no matter, how I lay it down, I've been trying to lay it down dry, but it still glossed over.
Is there any thing I can add...
Just realised, that the two 11 bar pressure relief safety valves , that don't go near bar, where supplied to me by a member of this forum?
I trust folk here and it's always my go to place for information when I run into difficulties, but these safety valves are really bad, it's not good to sell...
Cheers. So just go for a standard one? I'd really like to get a reliable one. I'm still puzzled how the two safety valves , rated at 11 bar kept blowing off at about 8ish,? I'm sure gauges can't be that out, so I want a decent gauge for piece of mind.
Hello all ..
I got back from Yorkshire and the Mrs. Start d on the ' hobby Compressor again.
I decided to buy a relatively decent switch with adjustable differential, rated at 20 Amps.
Condor /1.
I bought an 11 bar safety relief valve From Machine Mart, and am waiting for a Glycerine filled...
I know these Asian compressors. Forget the brand when it's a belt drive, 3hp twin with a 90- 100 ltr tank their all the same. Just different badge .
They are actually quite good, quieter than direct V twins lower reving, and have got the B3800 pump or a clone.
They can be run at 145 PSI , but...
I did mean PRV. Pressure Relief Valve.
I'm leaving it now. Going up to Yorkshire to bed with my Girlie.
I,ll have a look around Batley and Kirklees, for a whole pressure switch gage etc.
Thank everyone, for all your help, it's been an education.
Right. I reckon if I use a larger receiver, it will over work both the pump and the motor. I can see the attractive ness of having a larger air receiver, , but it just appears to be counter intuitive! I just need a PVR that will blow at about 10.5 to 11 bar.
That's it....
I It should be simple...
I wouldn't even attempt to spray a car. I hate cars any way. I just spray bike tanks and frames etc . That's why I only need a cheap Asian ,9.CFM, FAD machine .
I know. I got a scar on my chest after the Hose blew off the hose tail the other day. I wont go into to detail about the dent in my fore head. It's gruesome, and the result of me trying to make a ' pressure pot' from a discarded Helium cylinder .
You get the picture .,
