Have any of the more experienced members got any tips on vertical MMA welding.
I need to get some practice in before i go and do my level 2 in January and i dont do any vertical in work so will be using my purple ESAb to get practicing !
Hardly hollywood tbf, you get just as much if not more heat into the two joining metals with slowing down your welds rather than just a horrible fat continious line...so better penetration.
Also yes i am late to my own party and had to go over replies to come up with some sort of input so i do apologise ! Joys of ADD meaning i have problems with replies and such ! lol
I would also imagine this as you are forcing more heat via direction into a finer point that is already heated from the weld pool rather than forcing into a colder area with no weld pool.
So i experimented from what i have read by all your replies and this is the results of push, pull and running directly aimed at the area to be filled.
There is no visible difference in stack at all.
There is some great rpelies tbf and im glad my curiosity caused such a nice debate !

i use the yellow foam ones daily and have been for over a year now and never ever so far had any burns on them or my ears....your screen should cover the sides of your head if you are using a proper one...also unless your wailing on steel then you really do not need them as your welding should...

I ended up cutting the cable with some wire spare, will have to make a connector if i ever want to use it again lol
Thank you all for the input though !
Id prefer to keep it as a spare if im honest.
Ill have a go at pulling it apart but thought those circles might be screw covers that are impossible to remove...
Dont quote me ive only done a very small amount of plasma cutting but id hazard a guess at it being the pressure which makes a neat cut and a fine/clean tip ?
