I'm really sorry chaps (and chapeses).
I just HAD to do this!
EVERY time I see "Stuff you have made today", my warped sense of humour pushes this into my head.

That is understandable. It was designed to be used for long periods at a time - a bit like a nice comfy armchair versus a wooden kitchen stool. I wonder if it is going to stay indoors now.

This video just PROVES my signature!
There is NOTHING more dangerous than a RESOURCEFUL IDIOT.
I'm quite sure that the majority of those victims in the video received internal injuries, especially spinal injuries that might not become apparent immediately but have long lasting effects...
Picking this up on the last post has triggered my interest. I do know that this Forum is populated by a large number of people from a very wide range of backgrounds and experience, making a huge accumulation of in-depth knowledge on a wide range of subjects available on this site..
If the Mods...
I had a TD5 until I retired last year. It never let me down. It was often filled to the roof with tools and equipment. While I had it, there were only two seats - driver and passenger. The other five were folded away.
Officially I bought it for work - although the main reason was to bring home...
That's not necessary, lol
I love the Gardeners probably as much as you. A lovely engine that goes on and on and on .....and on . . . . and on .
However, All the ones I've played with - mostly in Foden 8 leggers sounded like a clapped out banger and smoked like one too when first started...
Have you taken ALL the bits of barrel out??
As Craig said - the barrel only stops the handle from tuning.
As Tom said - Leave it till tomorrow - Daylight, hot cup of tea and a fresh brain you will be fine.

I seem to remember doing some work on Commer 2 stroke trucks many tears ago. Didn't they have twin or was it three cylinders, each with two opposing pistons connected to one crank with a load of levers?
The Rootes blower which I think they used, (again if my memory is correct) were fairly...
Wow Thank you for the info.
I've just been in the workshop and do about 20 metres of steel - at about half speed.
You are spot on with using them at a slower speed!
The steel is all shiny bright and I've still got about 9/10ths of a disc left.
I owe you a beer.
I think the cause of rapid...
The trouble is, if the plungers are worn out of alignment - it will not work. period, full stop, end of story.
With the greatest of respect to all who suggest the various methods of gaining a more gentle entry - if the lock is worn, the same thing will happen again, and again, and again,
If...
I've had to drill out a couple of barrels. Both times when keys were lost/ misplaced. It took a while but was no big deal. One was drilled with some cheap 'Rolson' drill bits.
Start off small - but not too small that the drill flutes catch - something a little under 1/4". Then wind in...
Good point about the tacho - now you mentioned that, won't the ammeter work in reverse?
Personally, I could never see the advantage of converting a pos-earth vehicle to neg-earth.
During my time in the motor trade I never heard anybody saying "I wish this was negative earth"
I believe the...
Has it got Overdrive? I have a feeling that the overdrive solenoid may try to work in reverse if the battery polarity is reversed. i.e. it won't move. Not certain of this but worth checking.
Everything used to be positive earth and never seemed to give problems. Got me thinking now! 12v dc -...
I've got music stored on my phone. (Must be an Android phone?? because I won't touch Window$ or MAC.
I have a Makita site radio with bluetooth in the workshop so sending music to it is dead easy, plus it automatically mutes the music if my phone rings - and I can control the volume and the...
I seem to remember that we could get oversize thrust bearings for the crankshaft. I believe they went up in 5 thou intervals. The symptoms you describe are very similar to those of tight thrust bearings.
Has he still got the bearing boxes to check the size? Although if they were 'New old...
Possible the ONLY way your heat pump could trigger his light would be if he had a heater vent - such as a gas boiler vent close to your heat pump exhaust AND in the PIR field of view.. The very dissimilar air temperatures could cause brisk thermal movement which a PIR light may interpret as a...
I've bought them off Fleabay in the past. The last pack I bought I saw at a local agricultural hardware shop nearby. They were a little more expensive and do last a little bit longer - but they must be viewed as a consumable - much the same way as using, for example, acetone for cleaning.
Flap...
I used to be involved with Heat Pumps as part of my last business.
ANY hindrance to the air being expelled will reduce the efficiency of a heat pump.
Also, you have to ensure that NONE the expelled cold air can be drawn back in to the unit - this again will reduce heat recovery efficiency...
I always start, intending to only clean just the immediate weld areas . . . . . . but then clean further and further . . . and further. I must try to learn how to stop!
I now use those "roughy, foamy, paddy type things" on an angle grinder - whatever they are called. They strip...
