perfect settings, there isn't such a thing. the settings have to be altered as the work piece heats up, the distance from tip to pool, hand travel speed, the kind of preparation its a long list. i say one thing though and i fall into the trap all the time, even this week i should know better by...
i am butt welding 12mm plate at the moment and today have come to the conclusion 24 volts (200/230amps) 9 m/min wire speed for root and for passes 24.5-25.7 volts (210/250amps) 9.5 m/min. am using BOC argoshield heavy.
for fillet weld about 26-27 volts (200/230 amps), wire speed around 12-13 Meters per minute. a very nice setting.
for a butt weld try from 24-25 volts for root, 25-27 volts for passes, wire speed from 8 up to 14. thats with 1.0mm wire.
cant figure out why the port for the trigger plug is so far in the recess of this machine but the quick release for the gas is protruding, to get the trigger plug on is so fiddly its exasperating, was planning to remove torch at the end of each day but may leave it on as trying to get this on...
was working away on site today and noticed that the set i am using at the moment (ewp or something, "pico tig") has the dinse attachment to connect to a parweld torch (what a bad torch, will be back to kemppi soon), i was quit amazed as i have been using set for months but never noticed it. have...
hey thanks a lot for that hotrodder i checked out the links and that looks just what i need. i have two little male fittings for the gas quick release outlet so I'm alright in that department i think. i also have a trigger connector plug which i need to fit as well. the plug is quit fiddly to...
have just purchased a invertec V160-t inverter and want to use a kemppi torch with this machine but connecting them together is not straight forward. have already picked up a connection for the trigger which i will in due course solder onto end of torch. the problem is the gas and current...

i have a telwin mig and tig set, very good they have done lots of hard work, there machines are also re-badged as sealy, Lincoln and a few others. my mig is 265/2 250 amps but goes down to 20amps so handy for 6mm wire auto body work, tig inverter is very nice use with a fronius torch.

i wouldn't spend a penny of your own cash for a start. if your fitting and welding then your going in the right direction to be a fitter welder are you not. going to collage would be nice maybe you could look for a job where they will send you.
my foreman smashed my mates dewalt laser against a wall last month , in fairness we were warned not to use it on the steels any more, i have a Stanley 5m (tyrol or something like that) which i got in Wilkinson is doing me proud service.

A stringer made from 400x100 C channel was shortened in work, a bit was cut out and the stringer welded by stick back together again, now the stairs is up and a hairline crack has appeared down the inside face of the channel. i think the crack appeared because of trapped slag (was welded in...
