As Parm says, also measure resistance with a multimeter (should be about 3 Ohms). Check for rubbing. Tap cone with your finger. should sound clean, not vibrating/rattly. Inspect for cone or spider coming unglued.
Thats about it.
So, I have this tin of Simoniz Tough black with a bunged up nozzle.
What can I use to dissolve it out?
Acetone won't touch it, celly thinners likewise, brake cleaner -no, isopropyl alcohol - no.
Apart from water (which I haven't tried), I have run out of solvents - any ideas?
Are all superglues (cyanacrolate) the same?
For instance is a cheap poundshop glue as good as a recognised brand, is it marketing, or better chemistry.?
Any recommended brands?
Thanks
With the equipment I have, I would bend it (got a Clarke hydraulic thing), then using a hammer, mig or tig and bits of scrap, angle grinder, flap wheel, - repair any bulges cracks and wrinkles.
I am sure there are better ways of doing it, but I don't have any more sophisticated equipment for...
I once received a lighting bracket from a supplier that was supposed to have a hole drilled in the middle - it didn't.
So I rang the supplier and explained the situation. The next day I received an empty envelope with a note inside ..."please find missing hole enclosed".
Naturally I replied...
Hmm.... I used to use cheap Eagle sidecutters (only about £3-4 a pair) for electronics work. and I thought they were pretty good, so I thought if these are good - Knipex will be stellar.
So, I bought the Knipex equivalent. One of the cutting jaws broke off the first day I used them. Back to Eagle.
This lot do some excellent products for wood finishing https://www.morrells.co.uk
I would have a look at them, maybe give them a ring for a specific recommendation.
I use their products to finish guitars, good stuff.
There is special stuff for that, bit like foam draught excluder tape. You would have to lift the upper sheet a bit to slip it between the upper and lower sheets.
I got mine from Foregales when I bought the sheets.
