Yes that's me and "Gracie" in all our horribleness.
I'm glad you find the videos helpful, I began making them as a way to assist others in the same boat as me.
When I started I didn't even know which way the panels were supposed to fit so it was a steep learning curve.
I'm happy at least one...
Well I played about with the settings and I honestly think I thinned the panel too much when attempting to clean it, so I had to resort to letting in a couple of patches which sorted the inner wing out.I will bear in mind the issue of thinning the metal especially using the 3M discs I have, they...
I think my issues has been solved, I'm too heavy handed with the flap wheel cleaning, and thinning the metal as I go, plus I'm leaving a gap in the joint.
I'm going to attempt another section tomorrow Leaving no gap and clean the area with my grinder mounted wire wheel and take thing from there...
Yes I'm on and off just using a short burst like one spot weld at a time but its still blowing through.Would slowing the wire speed make any difference I wonder??
Morning all
I'm currently in the middle of welding new repair panels into my 1965 Morris Minor.
All is going well if a bit slow as its all new to me.
I have managed to fit a rear wing flange which took ages but I know have a thin (2") strip to join the flange to the inner wing.
I cut the inner...
Hi all
As per the title where would I begin to look for a supplier for a small amount 6x 1500 25x25x2 mild steel box section?
I've looked on ebay but the prices seem outrageous.
I'm in the Manchester area but obviously stuck at home with lock down.
Regards
Dermot.
It's £27.50 to get in, then £17.50 to park, makes it an expensive day before you start.
Although having said that,I have just begun the restoration of my morris minor so I will go along and try find some tools and stuff.
See you Sunday.
The idea is, you pack your boot with tools, overalls, helmet etc, then fit the rack and finally load the wheels.
On arrival at the track wheels off to be placed on the car, rack off ,tools out overalls on and compete.
Then load it all up again and go home.
The competition regulations state the car...
Not quite the same, i have a luggage rack as you say quite common on older cars, the issue with them is they are too narrow to hold four wheels and tyres.
The rack shown is much wider using the rear wings for support, the old rack just used the boot lid and is quite flimsy really.
Hi all
I currently have a mk1 mx5 which I use for grass roots motorsport, sprinting, autosolo that kind of stuff.
The biggest issue with the mx5 is storage and taking spare wheels to an event usually involves filling the passenger seat with tyres and wheels and maybe straping a couple to the roll...
Hi
Having been using my gas bottle burner for the last few days and in particular last night whilst sat outside with a few beers I have come to the conclusion I would like a hot plate on my next model.
Apart from finding a cast Iron hot plate would a brake disc do the same job?
Or would it...
I stugged with the welding if I'm honest, I didn't seem to be able to see where I was going, maybe if I was to mark a line and try follow that.
Although how I couldn't follow the hinge I don't know.:(
