Hi, I picked this old 60L cast iron lump a while back for not very much. It makes air ok, but tends to run on a bit. The unloader seems a bit all it nothing. However this could be my ignorance! Has anyone got any info on this model? I don't seem to be hammering it , and am not drawing much...
Hi Neil, thanks for the reply. That got it working, I checked the Binzel wiring out as well so all three pins are connected. 2 if If am correct is switch Tina preset cold current on a two trigger torch/ handle? Thanks, Mark
Hi, should be simple Parweld pro grip max torch, with STD single button as a swap for the item binzel torch. GYS say to connect red and and black to pin 2 and 3, but tried that and it doesn't trigger. I can pool the Binzel plug in and it triggers fine. Oarweld , switch and wiring seem ok...
Thanks for all your comments, great food for thought. Thanks Hugh for the Murex main guts easy to fix comment, good to know. My ancient cebora has a jumpy current selection, so keen not to revisit. Tom, yes I have seen good reviews for the Gys on here, esp in AC. I am leaning more to the...
Hi. Trying to fathom the choices and had pretty much settled on a bare Gys 200 ACDC. Will mostly by mild steel, some stainless, but want to get better Ally upto 4mm. Hobby use. But have a big stainless frame to TIG for a building project.
Western and have a Murex transtig ,201i for a £1K , but...
Yes,sorry I meant had I wired it wrongly, or shirted it. Anyway I hadn't. You can see the HF switch off , I think it was a iffy tungsten I was using a blue generic multistrike, swapped for a fresh ceriated Binzel , and cleaned the steel again. All seems good thanks. HF is much better, it's...
Cheers, yes I wondered if HF was on all the the time. I had soldered in a new torch, so it's a possibility that it's holding it on. . I will check all the others, again. The new torch is a parweld so a bit more sophisticated than the old job. I basically flicked the switch and checked which...
Cheers Richard great advice. I'm getting there, but I will check again with lights off / and for witness marks. No adjustments on preflow, as far as I see. I find I'm just balling the mild steel rod off with a fierce wide arc. I'm going to adjust the gas down a bit. The same torch internals...
Seems to be sorted by extra purging of the flowpath with Argon , and running more like 10Cfh at the torch. Cheers for Pete etc Al for the info on gapping and single phasing in. I cleaned ,the What I assume are ferrite electrodes )cores with some 3M diamond paper. Just like we use at work for ion...
think the gap it would need to produce would be no greater than 1/4". The ones that I used back in the 80's, you touched the tungsten to the work, lifted it then hit the pedal and that kicked on the HF. In doing this I think you could get by with 1/8" or less.
Just saw this on an electronic s...
Hi, just got an old special Uno Tig from an auction. It has a foot pedal wired in along with a button on the torch. I have only used lift permanent live torches before. Thanks to folk here I swapped it to single phase and gapped, and cleaned the HF points to 8 thou. However the HF start seems...
Cheers all, thanks for the advice as ever. The seller singularly failed to reply, so I bought a Cebora Uno Tig , 3ph but with single phase taps. It's a big old transformer lump, ACDC limited pulse(?). He hi, well hopefully I will weld a bit better, not having to do lift starts(stops!)
Hi, I have seen a 3ph 400gts for sale. As some of these were definitely single phase sealable , at the back-to-back - I wondered if all could be converted by taking the covers off and sealing the inputs. Haven't found a circuit diagram yet, I was going to use MIG UK and a game electronic...
