Thanks for the replys  When I looked at it there is a screw broken about 5mm up inside the shaft. No photos as I needed to be using it again asap so I took the easy route and put a dab of Locktite in the chuck then put it on the shaft and using a small bottle jack gave it a little push up...
I had a Banshee quad that uses the same engine.I fitted a Toomey race kit on it boy what a difference in performance, well worth the money. Nice work by the way
I recently bought a single phase Fobco Star Pillar drill. It had been working great with no play in the quill at all, however whilst using it tonight the chuck fell off  After close inspection the screw that holds the chuck on is missing and the remains of the screw are snapped up inside...

If I hadnt have already bought the replacement crossmember I would have used box section.Mainly beacause it would have been a lot stronger and cheaper than a replacement crossmember.
Its a design problem with the rear crossmember on the Discos. If you look at it from the side you can see that instead of the body mounts on the chassis being directly below the crossmember to take the weight better they are actually offset quite a bit further back towards the rear. Here is a...
Some info on this thread from when I restored my 300tdi. I used box section for the cills, new rear crossmember, floors etc. hth

Im sure you can use a M90 box from a 940 to rwd a 5 pot motor,im sure they were fitted in 940s from 95 onwards. They can be picked up easy and cheap enough,I paid £100 for mine delivered to the door. There are two types of M90 one is for the redblocks (rwd) and the other is for Whiteblocks...
Sorry to hijack original thread, but curious now,is the rear floor in your classic aluminium ? A mate of mine told me the early ones had aluminium rear floors. Thanks for your reply.
Well put Metalspanner,Im not a fan of the riveted in rear floor. When I restored my Disco I welded it all as originally done (surprising what other rot you find when you do remove the old floor ) .
I might be wrong but Im sure if the car has a seperate chassis and body ie not a monocoque shell it can be at the testers discretion as to what body rot he can deem as a fail. Its quite common hearing of Disco owners coming across this problem with rotten rear floors etc. Im sure ive read on...
My mate had one of those Saltafoss bikes in the early 80s :clapping: Wonder if they are worth anything ? I found this on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bb4qwYgC8L0&feature=related
Really interesting project and work so far :clapping: Just curious, where you have welded the infill plates from the top of box section to original chassis rails, will you also be putting an infill piece in from bottom of box section to outer side of chassis rails (bottom pic on post 82 of inside...
