I was looking on E-bay for a big single phase welder and came across a welder by the make of Butter's. Does anyone know anything about them. Are they a good welder or just scrap?
Darren and Paul you guys are exactly right! I don't need something over the top..Just something that is'nt totally useless and is big enough to cope with standard work! Hopefully i can earn a few extra Bob now;)
Simondrains..I'm going to be doing the real heavy stuff! steel beams and RSJ's stuff! I have the big welders at work for my use but i want one at home for just projects and stuff like that..I don't want to get something too small though so i want something at least 250Amps(ish)
OK well what about the welder bellow? I fink it's 42A though..

OK then...Say I get one phase...The welder then has the round red/blue plug...what do I plug that into? A transformer box? Sorry i don't have a clue but I'm only 16 and really only started..

I suppose I could get one big ass one phase but it's just for the future in case of other machinery lands in..

My employer runs his own engineering business from home.. He has got 4 3 phase welders and has a belt sander, air compressor and all major industrial tools etc.. He got a Ford engine that he uses as a generator...I think he got it for cheap too..He says it would have enough power to power every...
Wel I am going to be an Engineer..Appretice at the moment so I'm gona need a 3 phase welder some time along the line..My friend got a 240 amp welder and i thought i'd be OK at that but my employer said that was a bit light for the work I'd be doing!
Yeah, if i was buying a welder I would go for a the one that has the sepetate small box with the wire feeder in! So i Suppose the only soloution is to buy a generator to get 3 phase power?
Hmmm well I'm going to see what happens and put away so much money every week! About this 3-phase power..Could you give me the info on it?
I think i understand it...But don't call me an idiot if im wrong!:D Is 1-phase just a normal 13 amp fuse...Where as 3-phase is one of those round plugs...
Just basically a newbie but im a fast learner! Auto Darkening all the way! Used it a few times and it saves you all the time in the world! You probably have enough to worry about..Like me..So when starting out so go for a decent helmet and it's one last thing to worry about!
