Does anyone know anywhere that sells stainless and/or aluminium round plate? Like I'm sure I used to be able to buy flange blanks but can't think where from..
Cheers.
Yeah basically the intended use is onboard workboats. We had problems in the past when the vessels wouldn't have sufficient power available to power the winch/winches, so having the option to connect to a hydraulic power source could be really useful in that situation. I presume they are allowed...
I hadn't really considered hydraulics. To produce ~2HP, is it going to be achievable in a smaller and lighter way than using an electric motor? I've had a quick look at the motors and they seem perfect; small, lightweight, suitable for harsh conditions etc.. but the power packs look like pretty...
Just looking for a bit of advice/recommendation really. I used to work on these winches that used Baldor washdown motors, when they worked they were very good but we had all sorts of problems with them over the years which were often very expensive and time consuming to remedy.
We're looking...
I've found a few places online but none of them seem to have websites or give prices? I used to get MIG gas from BOC but with the slight price increases and the fact I don't use it all that much I'm thinking rent free will probably work out cheaper.
Can anyone in the Chester area recommend...
I have come across Goodwin Technology before actually. I used to work at a place where we had a couple of Bridgeports and they had supplied some spare parts for them. They also fitted one of their DRO's to a lathe and fitted a new electronic drive to one of the other mills. By all accounts a...
Where would I be best looking? What would I be looking to spend? Can anyone offer advise on different models, features etc?
I frequently look on ebay and they seem to vary wildly in price and condition. I believe other similar machines can be had for less money, but the Bridgeport is quite well...
I noticed in another thread that a member had been trying to create a .dxf drawing using sketchup and other members had jumped in to assist with autodesk etc.
I'm currently 'working from home' but not doing a great deal of actual work and have Solidworks sat here doing nothing. If anyone else...
That's very comprehensive! Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to stock up on supplies as the week goes on. Just got to hope for a dry evening or weekend to do the work now (break slates, ruin roof, make it worse.. wish I'd called a roofer in).
Cheers!
I've re uploaded the images to demonstrate the shoddy state of things haha. Now that I'm seeing them on a laptop screen rather than my phone it really dos look a mess..
I'm wondering if underneath all that tape the lead might have a crack in it or something.. who knows?
As you can see from...
Hmmm.. it appears most of the images haven't worked. I feel like this happened before and someone told me how to fix it but I can't seem to find the thread. Help?
Cheers,
I know this is rather off topic.. but I always get top advice on here so thought I would just ask..
Basically my roof is leaking, I have managed to get reasonably close and take some photos of the problem area and have a couple of questions;
Firstly, I believe the apron/cowling area around the...
So I have a large array of Myford changewheels for my ML7 and also a big stack of Denford ones so I would imagine that I could find some suitable sized gears to index from amongst them all. Alternatively I could print something off to use as a dividing plate. Excellent!
Regarding the gear...
So I watched the Antikythera video, really interesting and quite inspiring as well. I think the idea about printing a template off is a good one, I'll have to find a way of doing that and getting it print accurately to scale. I don't much fancy filing out hundreds of teeth though haha. I suppose...
I want to make a Tellurion, kind of like an orrery but with just Sun, Moon and Earth. I would like to use brass for the gearwheels, but I'm not sure I'm equipped to do so..
I have the dimensions for the gears and could get them to diameter and drill the centres out on my little lathe, but when...
