I'm wanting to put an A3/Golf 4x4 rear axle on a MK3 Caddy van.
The stock Caddy uses leaf springs. I want to convert to the above rear suspension, which has been done with some fabbing to mount the rear subframe.
What I need help with, is what adjustment to add to the suspension while I'm...
Hi All,
After some help please -want to spray 2K, a van first then motorbikes.
I have 2 x 100l SGS compressors which quote 14.6 CFM. I was expecting to link those together to provide enough air for the spray gun.
I then wanted to use an old (but lightly used) compressor for an air fed mask...
Just a small update.
Crossmember back in, welded, underseled, rad back and full, completed the service and taxed the car...then delivered it to a suprised and happy girlfriend. So good result then. What is odd is the radio didn't loose it's code when I disconnected the battery for a couple...
Ha it's done less that 40K so far!
I feel much better about having a new crossmember in place, just in case there are any accidents.
Can you believe there are guys on the Micra forum convincing their MOT testers to pass cars with corroded crossmembers because they are over 30cm from a...
Pics of the crossmember removed, and the rusty remains on it off!
The paint match is horrid (despite Halfords matching it up) but I've just called the Nissan dealer and they sell the right stuff for less! Wish I'd have known that before. Anyway, I'll get some of the proper stuff and get...
The engine is the good bit. Under 40K on the clock, and since I changed the plugs from the really worn set, it starts when you just look at the key, and runs as sweet as. Not right now, as I've taken out the rad to do the crossmember. Still, should be fine.
My Grandad bought a K10 new...
Made some progress -old crossmember was drilled and removed last night/this afternoon, new crossmember delivered earlier today, and 3/4 welded in place.
Major issue is the welding gun broke halfway through. There is a replacement available, at £60 so that will be ordered tomorrow. It's a...
Some pics as promised. Need to take the ones of the crossmember off the phone.
It's now got some paint on it, both over the top and underneath too : )
I'm trying not to loose sight of the plan of it lasting 12 months. After than, with a years no claims she can trade up.
Nice vid. I won't be happy if she takes it off road though!
Replaced the oil (engine and gear) after work, and sprayed a bracket, hopefully tomorrow I will start drilling out the crossmember.
The new one arrives wednesday...hopefully won't be too long before it's back together. Still...
Hello again everyone...been a while since I've been about.
Anyway, I recently purchased a car for my girlfriend (she is away at the moment, it's a suprise). It's only for a year then hopefully with a year no claims she can have something else.
Anyway, pics are at work so will upload...
I'm a bit concerned...well no I'm very converned, that a new business has moved into the unit next door, and began spray painting. No oven or seemingly extractors, and out business units are joined together.
Before I go and have a word, does anyone know the legislation surrounding this area...
Interesting. What makes you say that?
It's something that is completed for aftermarket bike exhausts quite commonly, and whilst I'm no expert, if there is a process requiring more labour but less investment, I would be interested.
How much harder than stainless are we talking about? If I...
Looks like just the ticket.
Apparently, the costs will be around:
motor £149.95, pulley £10.93, belt £6.70. P&P will be £6.75 & the total plus VAT
Any opinions? It would give me a 3hp motor & is rated at 14 cfm displacement which will give about 9cfm free air delivered at 100psi...
I've been offered a Clarke compressor, which has been unused for a few years, but it looks OK. It's a big tank, the compressor overall dimensions are 1.5m x 0.45 m.
It's been fitted with a much smaller single phase motor, and the original is not supplied.
The numbers from the model and...
I will make that call, but does anyone know what the difference is between a CNC controlled machine, specifically how it can make bends with a 1mm wall tube that (seemingly) manual benders can't? It dosen't seem to make too much sense at this point!
Thanks for the imput guys.
I've spend the afternoon e-mailing some exhaust manufacturers and engineering shops that offer tube bending. The replies have been from no to maybe. I'm not convinced they can help, but if Akrapovic can make titanium headers, someone can. Racefit in the UK were...
Just thought, has anyone been able to heat titanium enough to bend it, but without causing it to go brittle? I presume that is the oxidation you refer to.
Would it be possible to use the sand technique, but use a cold forming bender? If so, that would remove the sand/damp safety issue...
