The customer owns a field where he takes it and lets the grand kids have at it. I don't think it's seen any sort of maintenance in quite a while, the engine oil was like black **** which will have contributed to the starter clutch issues. Overall it's an expensive lesson for him in care and maintenance of machinery. It looks like it needs a new chain as well. There are a few of this type of quad being ridden on the road by balaclava wearing scrotes in Wolves
I had a new RF900 back in the day. It was a peach of an engine good low down torque great midrange and would scream to the red line. And the gearbox was the best of any bike I've ever ridden.A bit of deconstruction and washing up going on today.
This RF900 engine is the most likely candidate for the Dresda frame, so as I had some time I've pulled it down so that I can use the empty cases to see how it fits/looks. If all's OK there I can then see about rebuilding it with some enhancements.

They're an often overlooked and underrated bike IMHO. The suspension let them down a bit as it was to a budget, but the engine is a peach.I had a new RF900 back in the day. Yeah, but the customer's not going to be a happy puppy, it's up and running now, but sounds like the crank bearing has failed. No earth in that flex!
Is that the quad?
Having removed the panels for a look I have a feeling today is going to be a long day.![]()

I wasn't brave enough to look. What have they cobbled into it?, or were they just faultfindingcreatingbypassing.
It's in the vicinity of the lights/indicators so they possibly thought lamp cable was the stuff for the job.

I once wore one out!an Avon Deathmaster tyre
I'm not a fan, but it's a specific request from the customer.I once wore one out!
It was on the rear of a HondaWetSuper Dream when I bought it.
Just how many bikes it had been on before that not a clue but the rubber was about as flexible as concrete.
I was commuting from Connah's Quay to Manchester and Stafford at the time, utterly skint so it had to do.
Boy was I glad when it wore out by then I could afford to replace it!

Very pretty- but does it work?Gave up attempting to clean up the Harris torch just by polishing it up
So I've took it with me at work and sandblasted

I've then removed the nails from the bottom of the handle and started to polish it up

On tomorrow I'll attempt to polish the valves.
I've already polished the handle ends obtaining these results
View attachment 518091
Brighter but still satin finish due to the blasting.
I might try to polish it more but I kinda like the results comparing from what it was.

Done the lever as well but I didn't make any photos to it .
I'm kinda thinking about just polishing the valves and leave it as that
Cause the valve body is hard to polish due to its complex shape.
And the head has a lot of dents
Surely much better now
Honestly I didn't try it yet.Very pretty- but does it work?
