well...went to work this morning, no job on but 1st day back of the sick so had to show my face. pottered about for a bit, did some photo editing...now im back home agian and decided to finsih the table i started 2 weeks ago...8 welds left, all could be done from a straight standing position but some would be overhead as a result, no issue...gasless mig is easy overhead...until i got halfway through the second weld and ran out of wire cant even pop out to get more as the vice i ordered at 4pm yesterday is marked as out for delivery today so need to stay in for that...so, stick welding it is...not my proudest weld, but 2mm thick box section with a 2.5mm super6 6013, 70 amps, DCEN overhead (table was leaning away maybe 15 degrees so not directly overhead, but close enough) and the first overhead stick weld ive tried in more years than i can remember...looks rough, felt bad while i was doing it, but im sure it will hold. did poke around in the little worm hole to dig the slag out then filled it in again after it cooled...and yes i know the metal is rusty, its been outside for 2 weeks and i wasnt crouching down to get at it with the grinder. the joint got threatened with a wire brush and thats about all it was ever going to get at this point.
its now finished apart from clean up and paint but thats another days job as its just started raining again.
this post may also be used int he future to remind me that i have absolutely no idea what im talking about when i give welding advice to beginners the weld above it was gasless mig...thats the bastid i was doing when my back went, although it was on the floor at the time
