Just had a little Astra as a short rental to the airport. It had a function where it told you the following distance to the car in front (in seconds). Now I’ve been driving a while but I was amazed at how far behind the car in front you are at 2 seconds. My “comfort” distance was more like 1 second and even then other drivers would often slip into the gap.
Makes me wonder (a) have I become more of a risk taker over time subconsciously or (b) with modern cars/roads etc should we be reconsidering the 2 second gap?
Any new drivers here who know what the latest teaching is?
