I think the car might have been in an accident or the engine might have fell off the hoist, believe me them cast iron blocks are very fragile if they dropped on a hard surface...they shatter !
I mentioned welding a nissan engine block which had 2-3 pieces broken out of it, i posted pictures into another thread...see the link !I see a wheel.

Aluminium doesn’t glow.I bet that wheel was glowing hot when you had put that many passes into it. looks like a whole pack of filler rods too. fair play.
It will go on a lathe to get it true again...at least one thing its getting done properly !Balance could be a new issue
I do use it when standing at the bench, not when welding out of position or outside ! The 3M helmet is far too nice to mess up and i am afraid to scratch the display without protector...Not using the new lid then Chris?
