Following remarks twixt Weldequip and I last night - here's the opportunity for him to air his opinions re Churchill and Gallipoli...
I have a feeling he's going to say that Churchill's strategy to open a second front towards Turkey was good, but the implementation by the Royal Navy was shockingly useless and destined the campaign to farce and disaster, and their wasteful use of the ANZACS was nothing but ignorant slaughter.

Well, to be honest Si, my knowledge of this is very scant at best! but, from what I know...our greatly reveared future Prime Minister... Sir Winston Churchill was, at the time, Lord of the Admirality, and, dispite being advised his ships would be shot to pieces by heavily defended positions + men mown down he still ordered the onslaught...resulting in total carnage & a complete embaressment for the "British" army ("It's OK, they're only convicts" 
) regarding the Nazis' tratment of the Jews:
