Is the interior release handle 'floppy'? That would indicate a snapped cable. Otherwise, try getting a glamorous assistant to press down on the bonnet above the catch location while you operate the release.

If that fails, I suspect uoi're looking at getting down and dirty to access from below, or removing the grille if that's possible?

the handle seems to half release the bonnet but not sufficient to get your hand in

Have someone pull the catch as you jiggle the bonnet up and down i think the cables stretch and sometimes it will go eventually

try lift the bonnet a littel, is there a tounge that pokes out the grill with most vag stuff or is there ment to be but the end has been snaped off

On my Renault Trafic the bonnet only releases by about 1" but there is a plastic catch you can hook your finger into.

I know it might sound simple but on my BMW you have to pull the handle twice to fully release the bonnet.

Push it down or lift it up and it should release the bonnet. Its a feature not a bug!

thanks for replies its sorted daughters car was in main dealers getting the emissions thing sorted free garage couldn't open the bonnet and wanted up to £ 150 to get in no chance .got it brought back so I took it to my local garage guy as I have never had any dealings opening it or where the catches were . I jumped in operated the lever and he just popped the bonnet a quick squirt of wd 40 just in case and it was wouldn't take anything for it because we take 4 vehicles to him all the time . main dealers (stealers () there gonna get it when it goes back in for the warranty repair

Their multi million pound diagnostic computer probably didn't tell them how to open it main dealers of all brands seem to be getting worse when it comes to actual mechanicing these days. They seem lost if the computer can't tell them how to fit a new part etc.

Mechanics? They're referred to as 'technicians' now, I prefer 'fitters', although with the [unnecessary?] complexity of today's vehicles who's to say technician might not be a more accurate description?

Last year I asked a BMW Main Dealership where on my car a component [electrical 'black box'] was located. The receptionist went through to the workshop to ask and came back to say they didn't know. Struck me they either a) didn't want me taking the business elsewhere, or b) replacing said component myself.

best laugh I had was a guy took his Peugeot 106 in garage with a fault and the computer told them it was the air conditioning pump was faulty quite expensive they said . that's strange he said it aint got air conditioning unless u mean the window winders stuck
