Smart phone WiFi

I'm new to smartphone ownership (Android) and cant get it to find my WiFi network. I pad and laptop find it OK so assume that the router etc are OK. Phone just searches and searches.
Did once throw up a message to press the WPS button on the router, that achieved nothing and I could only get rid of the flashing light by re-booting it.
Suggestions please.

Is the wifi turned on in the phone?, go into settings, then wifi, there is a slide button to turn it on, normally they pick up signals from routers all around you so if its on I would have expected it to see something.

Yes , turned on and Plusnet network shown with correct SSID but it just searches without finding.

Have you tapped the Plusnet tab, it won't connect automatically, you have to select it.

sure you are inputting the correct password
you have to select capitals for every letter apart from the first one

A friend of mine said his iPhone wouldn't sink. I dropped it in a bucket of water and it did no problem. If your wifi is showing up in the list it has got to be your password not working. I always have to change the first letter to lower case when entering them or tap the key twice to lock upper case.

I think he means that his phone automatically capitalises the first letter of a sentence (and hence a password.) If capitals are required in the password other than the first letter, then they must be selected. I think.

Depends on what the txt box default is. Some are 1st letter is a capital , others are all lower case

I've known some smartphones not like some makes of router.

For years I've had a Netgear router and everything we have worked okay with it, then we got hit by lightning and needed a new router so bought a Dlink from Tesco, anyway the wife's android smartphone doesn't like it. Bought another Netgear router and everything works again.

Anyone want a Dlink for postage ?
