Yeah that's how I read it - if it's only the air filter that caused it then it's an easy fix!

It's strange how people spend money on a car and don't look after it at all, services are cheaper than engines! On a more positive note the previous owners have been a bit more loving, there's a wodge of paperwork including a replacement gearbox

My sister has a 57 plate micra, it owes her thousands as she bought it nearly new
Brakes left until they are dangerous, servicing 18 months over due, 2 bald tyres then the debacle over the fuel pump, plus I've never seen quite as much rubbish in such a small car in my whole life!

I told the "vehicle manager" a fat ignorant vindictive piece of work in the office that the van was due a service. Her reply was nah it don't, I hasn't done twenty faasand miles since the last one. Maybe but it has been a year. Anyways the next week the service light came on so I put a note on the weekly vehicle check sheet, then again the week after, then again, then again, it's now a month at least overdue so I would say if it blew up tomorrow Ford would say get lost for a new engine claim.
In some ways I hope it does go pop then the stupid cow would get a grilling off the boss for the £4k repair bill!

One of my neighbours had a Mini 1275GT and asked me to look at it as it had lost power. I pulled the head off and found the exhaust valves stuck open with coke so I cleaned them all, lapped them back in and put it back together, went like a rocket. I think the problem was her driving style, she would be in top gear in a hundred yards at less than 30mph

and the rest, done loads of transit lumps under warranty, want to keep on top of oil quality, i think 20k is too long

The Mini automatics were like that too. They'd be in top gear inside of 15 seconds.

A family member came in the other day, said her car hard started making funny noises,she checked the oil and said it just touched the bottom of the stick!!!!! so she put some in, seemingly she couldnt understand why she had to as she regulary puts petrol in?, anyways a few questions later, she has had it from new, had the original free service ,it now has 40k on it and never serviced , would have served her right if it had gone pop.some people eh.I checked her tyres and sent her straight to the local tyre service for four new ones.......she said she will get the thing serviced,somehow I doubt it.one carefull lady owner can mean anything cant it.

I had a similar event in the 80s. Company lease car, not long back from service. It got a bit endy. Told my manager. It was ignored. Driving back to Feltham on the M4 one afternoon, an end let go. Boy did it hammer
Anyway, I thought sod 'em, I'm not sitting on the hard shoulder with only 5 miles to go. It woke the whole trading estate up as I drove in

Word to the wise though regarding van, might pay to write a letter stating what faults have been reported and on what date,your concern being safety and cost effectiveness, etc ,post to boss,that way you are covered and vindictive cant talk their way out of it.if van goes pop,just a thought.Arther

years ago i worked for Datsun before it became Nissan certain co had the urvan kept blowing engines up so after fitting a new engine the van was outside awaiting collection,
when they came to collect the 3 other blokes that came with them to pick it up was talking i happened to be in the valet bay talking to car cleaner as i needed the car he was cleaning .
3 blokes gabbing away saying we will back again next week we will blow the f---ing thing up by then
turned out they went on site left it running with brick on the throttle till it blew up
only reason was they wanted transits the Urvan was not fast enough getting to site took an extra hour getting to some sites these van did star ship miles
so after seeing workshop manager and him talking to car cleaner to verify what was said no more warranty
they still blew it up within 2 weeks sat out the back for months till a wrecker came took it away
i presume they got the transits they wanted
some employees are your worst enemies

i know a taxi driver like that 67000 miles no service all he did was keep topping the oil up cried his eyes out when it went bang can't educate pork
