Having decided I require a lathe with a larger capacity than my current Boxford AUD I have been on the lookout for a Harrison 140 as it seemed to be the next logical step up from the Boxford. 140s are things on the ground and the 2 I have found are very strong money with next to no accessories.
I have come across a Boxford STS fairly close by that offers pretty much all the same things as the 140 apart from slightly shorter distance between centres at 500mm. The 35mm spindle bore and metric screw cutting gearbox are my main requirements, which the STS offers.
does anyone have any experience of the Boxford lathes of this line? The STS seems to be the top end school/college model based on the 330 industrial lathes.
I'm hoping to go and see it on Sunday and if all is good do a deal on it.
