I need to fill a 6 meter long 1 " bore steel or iron pipe with something that will set and block off the pipe. Its an underwater keel cooling pipe on a boat, which has corroded through and has been disconnected, the boat is not going to be docked, and if its left parts of the system which are inaccessible under the floor are 22 mm copper and might freeze and then burst and leak into the boat.

Something liquid, will set , is cheap, and will fill the whole pipe by gravity or easily pumped in ?

How will I get it in ?

There's some stuff used for bending complex shapes in pipe. It's warmed up and poured in. Sets hard and removed by warming up again. It's quite expensive and you'll need gravity on your side as ive only ever seen it poured in.

Biggest problem your gonna have is pumping something the full length of 6 metres

Can you make A timber bung up and bang it into the pipe to seal it. If it needs to flow into it is use polyester resin with thickening additive

If you can attach it then a length (6mts + of say 1/4" nylon pipe pushed right to the end of the steel pipe Then use the expanding foam and as you spray in the foam you slowly withdraw the nylon pipe filling as it pulls out. Just think of it as the "slow withdraw method"

Some form of liquid latex there us also the stuff they use to seal cable joints in the street

Paraffin wax? Cheap as anything, waterproof. I don't think it will dissolve and it shouldn't melt once set.

Only thing I can think of is glassfibre resin, it's cheap, flows pretty well, even easier if warmed but you then have to reduce the hardener ratio to prevent it going off too fast.

£1 shop silicon mastic with a length of plastic tube attached so it can be deposited deep inside the metal tube

You can use a potting compound, resin based. I used 3m scotch-weld on my boat for gap filling old screw holes, etc. It's water proof, used for under ground electrical joints, very strong as it's an epoxy resin and takes a hour or so to set, and has a ' runny ' consistently.

Beg steal or borrow a roofers hot pot and pour hot bitumen down it, that will set not problems and pour in easily .

My experience of foam filled voids is that when they get soaked in water, it really helps to spread the rot evenly.

No foam is 100% closed cell, however exotic its name or provenance. You're right to be wary of it. Plenty of very expensive boats with core separation can evidence that.
