Leaf Vac - Blower

I am looking to buy a leaf vac blower, think I would rather vac than blow rather than spread the problem our garden is about 50ft long front and rear, and we have 2/3 big maple trees back and front, any recommendations gladly received, thanks, Chris.

Something like this is your friend, the Billy Goat brand is more robust but a bit pricier. Saves you loads of time and effort :thumbup:

We bought my FIL a Ryobi for his birthday and it's pants, even after making up a tool so that I could tune the carb it would still struggle to blow the top off a rice pudding!

I bought a Ryobi battery drill, that's was pants as well. I desperation I bought a Lidl one, cost about £12 & beat it hands down. It lasted 5 or 6 years before the battery started to go. Ryobi stuff is off my shopping list now because of this.

I've been looking for one too - been looking at the Stihl SHE71. A good make but for the advertised 130 quid seems a bit too cheap to be any good?

I have had one of these for about 4 years now, starts easily, even after long periods of non use. powerful blow and a metal fan/shredder. I have used it to blow fresh settled snow, leaves, twigs etc. It shreds leaves small twigs and paper well.
If I ever need another I would buy the same again. I purchased mine from a local supplier in the UK.

Must have been something wrong with it, the one we have is excellent.
The only grumble I have is changing from blow to suck, you have to use a screwdriver, to move panels about. Stihl's are much better for this but you pay for the convenience. I knew this before buying it, and have never used it in blower mode.

I'm guessing we have different models then as the one my FIL has you just rotate a lever to change from blow to suckling, I will post a picture when I'm back in the UK so people can avoid that model!

I had one from aldi the last time it was on offer. It's electric . Very noisy but does the job well. Switches between blow and sucking instantly with a big lever.

The amount I use it a petrol one is a waste of money.

I know Doris has moved them, I am sure the next one will bring them back.

Do you have a Home base near you? Our local one has a small petrol Ryobi one in a clearance sale. I have used one, for what they are, how often you use one they are not bad.

Err Yes. This winter with little frost the leaves stayed on the trees far longer. Combined with low rain fall, they havent rotted down, consequently whenever the wind picks up all the leaves are blown about.
I came home the other night to find the path between my workshop and party wall was waist deep.

(No worries though they were soon gone once I fired up the Carlos Fangdago modified startos engined leaf blower)
