I seem to always have a few things for sale on gumtree and if I list something on ebay I will probably put it on Gumtree as well.
I treat it much like ebay. Unless the ad says 'I won't post it' I assume they are up for posting it and I always put 'postage no problem' in my ads.

I've used gumtree once to sell pickup canopy, pretty effortless. Sold it within an hour of putting the ad on. Only snag was I had to fit it to the guys truck when he came to get it. I placed it on the tub and told him to do the drilling and bolting. No way was I putting holes in someone else's truck

Take the money, stand it on his pickup bed, leave him to it offer to sell him a ratchet strap if he doesn't have a drill with him...

Ratchet strap, agricultural type here. I would of given him so bailer twine to tie it down with
