Re-roofing a water tank

Found some pictures I took probably mid 80's when I used to earn a bit of pocket money working casual for my mate during shutdowns. This was a water tank at LDV van factory Bromford Lane, Birmingham, had to remove all the rusted plates off the top and replace with new ones. There was even an armour plate "shed" just big enough for 2 blokes bolted to the side of the tank, it had a slot cut in the side and was used for fire watching over the factory during WW2.

He was a good mate, I knew him best part of 40 years, the fags finally put him in a box a couple of years ago

The same thing, along with copious amounts of alcohol, killed my sister.

Friend of mine used to control the seagulls on the LDV building

A building opposite ours has an electric falcon on it to scare the local seagulls off.
It works; the buggers roost on our building instead

Real falcons are way better and falconers can make a few quid to finance thier hobby. "they don't like it over them"

If you get to go to Bristol Shopping centres in the city centre, in the early hours you will see one walking round with his bird.

I spent to long watching the bird in action.

I honestly wouldn't hurry to Bristol but I have seen them in use and for quick reductions of nuisance birds they are crack on and you don't need to kill many- it just scares the beejeebers out of the problem. Port authorities used them here on a seagull issue and honestly twenty guys hitting it with shotguns might not have been as effective
