I've been looking for an insulated garage door for my new workshop that's being built. Seems that SWS Securoglide is popular, they've quoted £1500 for my 3m (w) x 2.3m (h) opening all in. The cheaper companies started at £850.
Read a few people complaining about the cheap doors, and being fed up of cheap products, and to ensure I can get spares for years to come I thought I'd go for SWS. Then last minute I found this company, Birkdale doors, who say that their insulated doors are 19mm thick which I think is way thicker than anyone elses, so more insulation and more security: https://birkdale.co.uk/products/garage-doors
Their standard door is also £1500 for my size.
Their website says they make their own doors and having been around for 20 years. But a search in Government Companies House shows they've only been registered for 7 years. But still tempted by the 20mm thick door!
The SWS doors are also held together with webbing. Everyone elses door slats slot together. Is webbing really ok? I would have thought it would wear out with friction and it can't be dismantled like the slot together doors.
Any thoughts or other recommendations?
