cavitation ?Not necessarily, I've had this before due to cavitation

Yescavitation ?
they don't have valves anymore, water always flows through the matrix, flaps direct the air through the matrix or pull in cold airHang on, back pedal a bit, is the heater control valve OK? Did you bleed it up properly on thermostat replacement?
Ok I have even had impellers snap of a Renault pump that had frozen. BUT we turned the crank with a guy feeling the vanes were all in place.yeah good call, ive seem impellors loose on the shafts before
There is usually still a valve though, electronically controlledthey don't have valves anymore, water always flows through the matrix, flaps direct the air through the matrix or pull in cold air
ive not seen a valve for years even when pulling heater assembly's apartThere is usually still a valve though, electronically controlled
Ok now for the additional we were not given at first. ( or we would not have took the job on)head gasket, but I doubt very much its that or you'd have the problem with no thermostat

I will admit my first thoughts were water pump as I have had similar before......but my lads mate needs it back for Monday to go to work....Yeah I know not good but the guy is skint. So paying 50 quid on a gamble was not a good option.....he had convinced him self it was a cheap thermostat.
I know some have pins fitted that sheer but the impellor still has a grip on the shafts..
Depends what you mean by properly.Hang on, back pedal a bit, is the heater control valve OK? Did you bleed it up properly on thermostat replacement?
usually when its head gasket gone the cooling system will pressurise very quickly when cold yet the hoses will be cold or just starting to warm upOk now for the additional we were not given at first. ( or we would not have took the job on)
When it was first purchased second hand head gasket went after 2 weeks.... doh. Now they tell us. Our guess is the new head gasket did not fix it as the heater never worked so they bashed the center out of the thermostat.
So.......I was convinced it was water pump but.....as the guy can't leave the car I am not rushing doing a favour. It was rad pack and bumper removal as one of the thermostat housing Bolts had a duff head. Arrggg.
coolant cap off and sniff for combustion fumesSniff test before you go any further
Because he reckoned he could feel each of the vanes through the thermostat opening.....does not mean it's still connected 100% though I agree.how can you tell without removing the pump ?
Tried it not convinced.....either way.coolant cap off and sniff for combustion fumes
Does not seem to pressurise at a without thermostat in.usually when its head gasket gone the cooling system will pressurise very quickly when cold yet the hoses will be cold or just starting to warm up
