I've been trawling through the posts and lookin about and the rehmann LG 40 seems to be the best "budget" plasma cutter related to cost, for basic needs not being used every day of the year etc
anyone got any objections to the rehmann lg40?
anyone experienced problems ?
or is there a better product for the same money ?

anyone experienced problems ? No

Rehmann 40 plasma

3mm. = like a razor thru paper
6mm. = knife thru butter
8mm. = cuts ok but needs cleaning up with grinder
10mm.= very rough lots of slag
12mm.= more of a gouge than cut, slag all over

new tips & bits from Shop River.

Be warned of felzen group

I won one of these plasma cutters on ebay 27/10/08 Paid right away with paypay
i have not recieved the cutter, i havent't had any replies to the numerous emails i've sent them (in both english & German) and have started a dispute through paypal and still no reply from them.

I know the item is from Germany but it shouldn't take this long, i brought consumables for this from Shop river (Shanghia) on the 1/11/08 i had them in my hand on the 6/11/08

oh, if it was a lost in postage issue you would of expected them to reply. i hate that ounce of doubt when buying online
let us know how u get on with it, if it ever turns up and what felzen has to say if anything?

I won a Rehmann 200amp inverter mma/tig machine a while back, waited about 5 days and nothing. Emailed and phoned 3-4 times and finally got a tracking number off them which was as much use as a chocolate firegaurd. Finally it arrived after about 16 days. So i left negative feedback because of poor communication and slow delivery. The kit itself is fine, does exactley what it says on the tin. So when i put a bid in recently for the ac/dc inverter Felzen Group had blocked my bid and refused to accept it, so i emailed them asking why and guess what .........no reply sour grapes or what!

just seen that in the feedback, goes a little against the grain as everyone else saying it does 8mm messily, seems they like taking the money then forgeting the rest of the transaction from other bad feedbacks they have.

I am also the proud owner of a LG 40 nice bit of kit. BUT it wont cut 12mm as they claim. Cuts any thing upto 6mm like a knife & it's fast, 8mm is blobby but ok if you allow a bit for grinding, 10mm is rough.

Mine came with a 2 pin 16A euro plug so I replaced with 13amp, although the imput rating in the manual is 30 amps, and on the machine 24 amps?? The cable looks right for 32 amps, but I have used it up to full power, without blowing the 13 amp fuse?? (Are Chinese amps smaller than ours ? )

Felzen group will be getting a negative feed back from me, it's pretty poor that you need to take a dispute out to get a reply.

I Think i should have taken a flyer on a chinese one from shop river.

Plasma king 35 £505 i won the Rehmann for £175.50 +10.50 p&p albeit i haven't seen it yet
The cost of spares seem really expensive on MM i.e 1 cutting tip for the plasma king 35 is £5.86 (inc vat)
I brought 75 tips, 75 electrodes, 75 gas rings & 10 nozzles for £31 inc p&p
just unfortunatley got nothing to use them with yet

i'll let you all know how i get on with Felzen

You can get em at less than half that through a proper dealer

I brought 75 tips, 75 electrodes, 75 gas rings & 10 nozzles for £31 inc p&p

You'll need em! Chinese Plamsa's are renowed for eating tips & electrodes + are electrically, er..."dodgy"

If your prepared to go down the Chinese route (My views on this are no secret, but each to there own....) I dont know why there is concern from folk from buying them direct from the Chinese shop on Ebay...........all your doing now is buying them from a middle man in Europe!

If Lorch ever decided to start supplying direct from the factory in Germany you'd be out of a job!, but they won't because, as DIYwelding says, service & support is important. Doesn't matter how much of a bargain a machine is if you can't get any after-sales support.

I usually find myself agreeing with what you say Steve but on that point you couldnt be more wrong ..........all my distributors DO deal direct with and are invoiced from the factory But your 100% right about local back up and support, thats why WE belive the best route to the market is via distribution and not direct

I was actually refering too the guys on Ebay who pretend that what there selling is made in Germany and then sell it on Ebay, when its actually from China. Joe Public could easily buy the goods direct from the manufacturer in China and most probably save a few quid, because it doesn't look like any of these German outfits on Ebay are giving any back up.

Agree on the first bit. On the second, although Felzen are quite notoriously hopeless on emails, they do seem (and there are at least two cases on record here) to honour their guarantee.

I wasn't going to name any of them specifically as I dont know enough about them, but I got the impression that the Warranty from the German side of it was only something like 14 days or maybe a month, after that the end customer has to deal with the factory in China for the remainder of the Warranty..........

No, 2 years on those ones, which is pretty good. Some of the others are just as you say and -- as you say -- you may as well deal direct with the Chinese (with the aid of the local take away).

Be nice if they had an agent in Liverpool!

Yes..........we got about 200k worth.

But its all belonging to Lorch Germany until the Distributor buys it and then its invoiced to them from the factory in Germany.
