i always find it interesting looking at different vehicle restorations, because you get to learn all the different vehicles weaknesses and things you may or may not have ever seen before.
like wise ive never worked on a landy so the agricultural aspect as well as your personal touches make for interesting reading.
if ever i have to repair a landy in the future i will be using this for reference.

Hair done, onsie donned. It's that time again

I was hoping to get my td5 running and have the tub sprayed but as always. It never goes to plan. To get it running I obviously had to get it all re wired with the seat box back on and done! Intially spent a while trying to work out where all the little bits and pieces went, looked back through my pics which wasn't fast.

This is the battery mount base, put some rubber o rings on the studs, then fitted and used some of the P800 (I think it's called) body sealant on around the stubs to seal the bottom.

Then got these plastic guards on. Thus completing the galvanised and tub lined seat box very happy!

Moved onto the wings which has given me grief all day. The bits I bought the other day are going back. They're not going to work. I built up the 300tdi NS wing that I have, and roughly placed the inner wing in place trying to work out how it fits and what modifications I need to do to fit it. As far as I can see, the only difference between a td5 wing and a 300 wing is the indicator hole.

I may paint them tomorrow but I'm a tad unsure about a little ding that's in it. And how the paint shop will get around the slight twist in it without fitting it to my car for painting. Maybe making a frame for the bottoms is the way to go but again. I'm not sure.

Finally I finished the wiring earlier and fitted another earth wire because I realised the seat box earth is a terrible design that probably won't work with how thorough my rust proofing is.

It's a lot neater than it looks. I can assure you

I've ordered a load of little bits and peices. The red plastic screw blocks for the grills, floor pans etc. I bought a load of them. Then a pack of stainless screws for them, with plastic washers so they're not sitting against steel and won't cause any corrosion. I've also ordered zink counterparts for the screws that go into the U clips. You could say I got a bit Ocd haha.

earthing stuff is a pita once youve finished painting and whatnot, especially when you have to resort to sanding back paint or screwing in new holes into bodywork to get a good earth.

i had loads of issues with my vw build because of these reasons.
its a good thing you spotted it now rather than later
