Will this braze

So I found there's a bit missing off my magneto bracket.

Do you think I can braze this mild steel piece onto the cast ??
It's nothing that needs to be too strong, it is only a bracket for a timing chain cover.
Are there any special things I need to do to accomplish this?? I haven't brazed before but am a quick learner.

depends on what your brazing with ?? oxyacetylene or a propane torch best pack round it with some soft broken breezeblocks to retain the heat and heat with propane torch then use oxy acet torch to localise red heat and braze. u want to v it back and fill with the rod u can braze with just the propane torch but would have to heat the whole lot red enough to melt the rod and get it to flow. u would need sifbronze flux as well

That would tig braze nicely, needs a bit of vee prep, oxy fuel will do it but the whole thing will be pretty hot by the time the joints made.
It could also be stick welded with a nickel electrode.

Probably not hard with braze but it could certainly be welded cold with stick using the correct rods for cast iron (high nickel content) as said by Paul.
Easy job.

I only have a propane torch. I'll v it and give it a go on Tuesday when I'm off. Thanks for the help.

TIG Braze here as well.
I'd pre heat as well, it's a lump, you want it to cool evenly

What kind of torch though ?

If you mate up the joint carefully you could silver solder, which requires no skill, just preparation and heat.
