Brook Compton Parkinson Motor spares?

Hi there, did you have any luck finding a new switch for your motor? I've also got a dead Brook Crompton, and I suspect it's the centrifugal switch.
Unfortunately, the only motor repair shop near me has closed down.

CT electrical in Liverpool are fantastic, many rewinders send rare stuff to them as they are very good with obscure motors.

My memory is shot to bits, but from memory i think one of the mods had a problem with a pillar drill motor and was looking at generic switches from china. Don't know if it was any use in the end, or if i am just getting confused.

I didn't no, I ended up buying another brook crompton which had a pump unit mounted to the end and swapped that over but that hasn't helped. I've only just got mine back together and am going to live with starting it by hand (and with caution) for a while

don't trap your fingers in the belt and pulley

Looking at the original break I'd definitely be tempted to try jb weld or similar on that if you still have the bits. It doesn't look like it's going to be taking a lot of force.

hasn't jb got metal filings in it ??not a good insulator araldite probs best to try

Isn't the bracket metal though? But yeah any decent adhesive would be worth a try rather than sticking your mitts around the chuck!

I've replaced the broken component now. I may take it apart and see if I can make any adjustments.
