New Torch

I'd like a decent torch. I kind of want two things so maybe I need two.

Mainly, I'd like a decent flashlight to keep in the car. Preferably chargeable in the car. Type of thing that's useful if you break down, or need to take it with you walking the dogs at night.

Secondly, I like to have a larger unit with a good long beam and throw of light. Reason for this one is that I chased some burglars off one night and would've killed to have had a beam that meant I could've seen their faces as I chased them across the fields!

What have you got and what would you recommend?

Don't think you can beat the led lenser range nowadays.
Lots of models in various sizes and lumens ranges to chose from.
Check em out if your pockets are deep.

I think it is Aldi, Saw some today, Big machined aluminium torch 10w Cree, Takes 3 or 4 D size batteries, Just like the big old Police type mag light torches, It will have a great beam

Ive got a Varta torch I had to get in an emergency from B&Q. It's actually quite good, two light level settings, rubber cowling on front and rear so bounces really well. Great bit of kit for the price I paid, on par with some of the more expense stuff

If you could see their faces they were running backwards The little cree led torches on ebay are surprisingly powerful. £5 delivered from Hong Kong for the one I bought last year and it is still going strong.

A few weeks ago Aldi had a small led rechargeable torch (240v and 12v), brilliant for the car/ pocket about 20 quid.

I have a solarforce cree led torch, 600 odd lumens. Think it was about 35 quid or so but a great torch, they're designed to be tactical gun torches but are great for handheld. Look on taclight.co.uk

I'm a big fan of the LED Lenser P7 as a handy general use torch, takes AAA batteries so they are easy and cheap to get plus with 2 brightness settings they last pretty well and focus-able beam is handy.
Recently bought an Olight (can't remember the model) recently which is also and led but it's a rechargeable with a magnetic charging stand which plugs into a usb. It's a handy sized torch for the pocket and the charging base is pretty neat, not to big.

I like the 10 quid ultrafires. The one that is worn has been in my pocket and in use all the time
since 2011, the other was bought the same time, but is usually left in the kitchen, just happened to be in my
pocket tonight.
I have 3 more of them in use as front lights on bikes. I pay around a tenner for them, incl postage, battery and
charger some times.
18650 batteries last pretty well.
