Bmw exhaust fun today

Changed the post DPF flexi on a 2010 318d today, it's better than spending £800 on a new DPF but was still a pain

Lots of swearing, cutting, grinding and swearing gives you this

I know the bottom clamp is missing in this shot but the exhaust was being lined up first

Give me a "troublesome" freelander any day over this thing, plastic under trays and nowhere to put axle stands

Axle stands under the jacking points? There should be a central jacking point on the front axle so that the whole front can be lifted, at least there is on the e60 [well, the replacement for mine is currently sitting on the kitchen table waiting to be fitted, since the original is nowhere to be seen......].

Jacking point are plastic (or at least covered) he has the trolley jack adapter to fit in the proper points as there is literally nowhere to put a jack or stand anywhere else. We lowered the wheel onto a big lump of wood I have and left the jack in place

Not my car so not bothered, I have better tools than he does so I usually tell him to come over and end up doing most of it, but leave the jacking and stuff to him

I wouldn't drive a diesel car, the van is enough

I feel your pain.

The exhaust on my e39 530i is one piece from the downpipes back, must weigh about 40-50kg. Getting that out by myself was fun. After spending the best part of a day cutting and drilling out the seized bolts.
