Thanks for your response Dan.
Each gate leaf is just under 3000mm wide. The Arch is 600mm high, rising from 1800mm high to 2400mm high (approximately 3500mm diameter).
If I marked the 124mm centres before bending, the holes would drift considerably, it isn't possible.
This is the gate I'm fabricating
When I make gates like this I never drill them. Admittedly I use round bar, I make a jig,a bit of angle
with a bit of flat bar welded on the angle, cut a big enough piece of angle out to pass over the
horizontal or angled bars. Clamp it to the lower upright bar and then insert the short bit between the bars
into the upper bit of angle,It projects through perfectly, you wouldn't know it was two seperate bars.

if you dont mind me asking, what was that drawn with?Heh, ladies will ask for their leafy gates! An art nouveau/arts and crafts stained glass style pair of double gates this time. A couple small design tweaks to suit the client'sbudget & taste but 99% the same.

im guessing there was a computer and a stylus possibly involved.
How are square holes made usually? Some sort of punch?
