Blacksmith drills and set

Can anyone recommend a good quality set of blacksmith drills or set please....

screwfix do them https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=screwfix++blacksmith+drills. there ok for one offs but I don't particularly like them in a half inch chuck ive bought a few decent make large no 2 mt ones and turned the shanks down to fit chuck

I have looked on the Internet. ...for dormer but can't seem to find z great deal

I've had quite a few from ukdrills, just buy the ones you need to make up a set, I didn't expect much from them for the price but they are ok, even on stainless.

On the subject of drills . Had a strange problem with a 3mm brill bit. Brand new dormer drill set. Drilling in some 5mm thick mild steel plate. New hand drill.done the usual centre line and punch ect. Started off slow .drill bit cuts nice but how ever much you try to correct the drill bit has drilled of centre and to the left.tired six holes and all the same.other drill bits are fine. Is it done to an incorrect machined drill bit

just dont buy a wooden box of taper drills with spiralbohrer morsekegelsehaft on the front at a greatly reduced price and expect Germanys finest....What you will get is a cheap cigar looking box full of soft metal tat courtesy of Kung foo and soft noodles land

have to be honest i bought a set of drills from hilti and wouldn't buy anything else but thats general metal drill bits.
they dont blunt easy however they do snap easily on smaller sizes

and they are ridiculously expensive

I bought a cheap blacksmiths drill before for a job and chucked it in the bin nearly straight away, the clearances near the edge were all wrong and the body of the drill would get stuck in the hole. As some have said, sherwood make good kit and aren't too expensive.

I find Cromwell a good source of larger drills and they often do deals on them, I usually wait until they have deals and buy them, I use No3 morse taper though.
