Now I have a big problem.

I have fitted most of the UPVC and I am now onto the dry verge.

I have been told to screw into batten ends but they dont extend to within 30 or 40 mm from the edge.

It has a barge board that sits higher than the battens so I can't even use the other method of screwing into a lathe screwed on top of the barge board ladder.

And finally I have now noticed the tiles overlap more than twice the depth of the dry verge. I don't know how they did it next door as I was away when it was fitted.

This is a job i have to do think it is mostly cement board but will probably be some asbestos, am working on the theory that might as well take it out now before its covered over.
Nobody is ever going to turn round and say they were wrong and its now considered safe and the removal and disposal costs are never going to get any cheaper.
Get it out now before it has to be recorded on some sort of register of known asbestos locations. (its only a matter of time)

That's not my issue. builder down the road says it is cement board so it will be do7ble bagged anyway.

The issues are that the depth of the dry verge is max 2 inches but the overhanging tiles vary. (poor workmanship) up to around 4 inches. To do the job properly the tiles will have to be shortened, which is going to be time consuming and difficult in the wetter windy weather.

They still won't reach the battens mate..... the way it's going I wish I had never started. lol

But if I was paying to have it done it would be a lot more expensive so it's swings and round abouts.

To be fair most of the mortar has already fallen out. So something has to be done.

I have been a busy bee. but.... I have a query.

I have fitted a few verge caps but they don't seem to lie like the chaps over the road.

But if I have them like I think they should go the bottom of the roof tiles lift up.

Any suggestions?
